Under the Mustang’s stadium lights, both Trabuco Hills and Corona del Mar start the game off strong. Until about halfway through the half, the ball was constantly switching sides as both teams controlled the ball and tried to get shots on goal. Many runs were made, but finally around the 20 minute mark the score moved up 1-0. In a quick counterattack, Christian Flori pushes the play up the right line to Jett Bonner, who played an assist through the box to Taylor Demarais. Demarais ripped a shot at the goalie’s near post, who slide but couldn’t get control of the ball resulting in CdM scoring the first goal. After a few plays, the ball was back in the Mustangs’ box and Jordan Pratt hit a nice ball into the top left corner, bringing the score up to 2-0. Another few minutes later and Matt Katz is fouled five yards outside the 18 yard box. He took the kick and with a low curveball to the corner, Katz brought the score up to 3-0. The rest of the half both teams were attacking more and had great passes but neither could get the ball in the net. One corner for CdM came close but the Mustangs headed it out. Nik Darrough, CdM’s keeper also had to make a few close saves as well near the last minute. The half ended with the score at 3-0.

The Mustangs were mostly dominating the beginning of the second half and had the ball on the Sea Kings’ side. A yellow card was given to Nick Wynn near the beginning for a tackle. Just five minutes later, Trabuco took a PK and changed the score to 3-1 with a shot to the low right corner. CdM came back with a throw in by Grant Glessing to the box and Wynn getting a head on it, changing the score again to 4-1. Two more yellows were given, one of them being for CdM and the other for Trabuco. From then on, both teams played more aggressive and the passes weren’t connecting as much for either team. CdM had another kick just outside the box near the end of the game, which led to Jennings Torgelson scoring a fifth goal for CdM. The game ended with a win for CdM 5-1.
