Varsity girls lacrosse took on Newport Harbor at 4:15 on Friday. The girls played tuff and were winning up until the last two minutes, when harbor scored the game winning goal and won 9 to 8. It was a back and forth game both with both teams struggling to secure the lead. In the first half of the game Harbor scored four goals and CdM scored three. CdM came out with a bang and scored four goals in the second half to tie up the game. The score was eight to eight up until the last two minutes harbor scored a goal that won the whole game.
When asked about the game Katie Langley said, “At the end of the day, it was never about the scoreboard. We walked onto that field as a cohesive unit and worked our tails off. We never lost our composure and we never considered giving up, which I think is something to be extremely proud of. We have progressed so much this season, and although the score may not reflect it, I think this was one of the best games we have played yet. Obviously, we all wanted to come off of the field with a win, but ultimately we learned something much more valuable: when we go onto the field with passion and decide to play for one another, we can do incredible things.” lacrosse is a sport that requires a whole team to come together and fight to win. All though the girls did not win they stuck together and worked hard as a team. Team work is one of their greatest strengths this year, the ability to bind together when times get tough. As Langley said that is much more important than the score of the game.
