Growing up in Southern California, most of us aren’t familiar with seasons. 75 degrees and sunny is always ideal, but there are also many reasons to crave that crisp, cool fall charm. Here are five of the top fall foliage destinations in the United States:
1. Franklin, Tennessee
  • If you’re craving fall charm, then Franklin Tennessee is the perfect destination. Known for its beautiful colors, Tennessee fall leaves are stunningly breathtaking. The Pumpkinfest is an annual family festival held on mainstreet in Franklin. It’s live music and entertainment, arts and crafts booths, and local food vendors, accumulate over 65,000 people annually, to join in on some fall fun and delicious local food.
2. Brooklyn, New York
  • Known for its seasonal charm and big city feels, New York is home to fall charisma. The positioning of the sun through the city skyscrapers, casts an alluring shadow over the dreamy city. When in Brooklyn during the fall season, be sure to stop by the Brooklyn botanical garden. Trees bloom with fall leaves and arrays of fall colors, setting the scene for the perfect afternoon stroll.
3. Catskill Mountains, New York
  • Just a few hours outside of Brooklyn, is Catskill. Your typical “mountain town,” Catskill is tucked away in southeastern New York State. From Oktoberfest celebrations, to golfing, waterfalls, camping, and endless apple orchards, Catskill is an absolute fall muse.
4. Maple Pass Loop in Washington
  • The name “maple” hints at the scenic fall vibes from this destination in Washington. With a backdrop as gorgeous as Lake Ann, Maple Pass is the quintessential hiking destination. Home to a variety of trails and scenic viewpoints, Maple Pass is the perfect fall outdoor adventure, that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and one with nature.
5. Aspen, Colorado
  • Named after the “Aspen” tree, this beautiful mountain city is one of a kind. All the trees change color to a shimmery hue of yellow, and crisp air saturates the town. The beauty is surreal and charming, but only lasts for a short amount of time- the Aspen fall charm typically ends by the middle of October, as all of the leaves fall off of the trees and prepare themselves for the cold winter ahead.
We’re constantly on a summer repeat- everyday is nearly the same. But in other places, the true fall beauty is just beginning. It’s time to step out of the bubble and feel that crisp breeze.
