On Friday October 27, the roughly 13.7 million “Stranger Things” viewers sat at the edge of their couches ready for the season 2 debut, which held several new characters and an additional episode. The show that reeled in its fans is a love letter back to the 80’s where we encounter the science fiction aspect that transferred us to a whole nother dimension (literally).
The show’s child actors are what really makes the show so incredible. Millie Bobby Brown who plays Eleven, only spoke 246 words in the first series yet her body language and vulnerability carried the weight for her. On the other hand, there is Noah Schnapps, who was able to play the role of his shy and fearful self and the mind flayer, which for those who don’t know, it’s a next level demogorgan. Although, beyond the actors, Stranger Things lays the thought and film work that portrays an 80’s vibe.
Throughout the episodes, it comes down to the little things that make the show so unique. Such as the use of walkie takies as an alternative to the cell phones we have on hand now a days. Inspired by “E.T.”, the use of bikes as the gangs’ go to transportation system gave many of the scenes more action and thrill. Another movie that inspired “Stranger Things” is, “Stand By Me”, the boys in the show, Dustin, Lucas, Mike, and Will, had quite a few scenes that showcased their bond and chemistry like in the movie. Not to mention the outstanding transitions that brought the whole show together.
With a hope for a few more years worth of seasons, the Duffer brothers will continue to amuse their fans in the world they’ve created and, as the seasons continue to unravel the mysteries of Hawkins, Indiana, fans will be sitting on their couches with a stack of Eggos and head full of questions to be answered.
