Three long years—sorry, months—later, Gossip Girl has finally returned with new weekly episodes. From December through the end of February, the show gave its cast and writers a break, breaking girls’ hearts simultaneously. The delay, however, was not enough to stop the gossip. An off-screen gossip arose among the show’s viewers concerning the upcoming events on the show. Answers were finally revealed when Gossip Girl returned on Monday, March 8.

The last episode before the break (“The Debarted”), consisted of Chuck Bass dealing with his father Bart’s conscience on the anniversary of Bart’s death. An unknown relation between Lily and her ex-husband causes her relationship with Rufus to deteriorate. Meanwhile, Eric and Kira begin to conceive of ways to dethrone Jenny.

This week’s episode (“The Hurt Locket”) focused primarily on Chuck using a locket to doggedly track down who he thinks to be his birth mother. Lily and Rufus continue to struggle through their bumpy relationship, and Dan and Vanessa find themselves in a newly complicated friendship. Jenny becomes reacquainted with a mischievous boy. In the meantime, Serena and Nate (unsuccessfully) attempt to take their newfound relationship slow.

“I’m so glad that Nate and Serena are finally together. They should have been together this whole time!” said freshman Shea O Hill.

While Gossip Girl’s storyline is constantly enrapturing, some viewers watch the show for alternative reasons.

Sophomore Jane Kim said, “Dan Humphrey is the show! He’s so cute and funny, and he also works really hard as a student. We need more guys like him at school.”

The show (as in, the show’s good looking actresses) has even caught the attention of some guys.

Freshman Adam Shurter said, “Blake Lively is so cute. She has the best smile.”

With drama, plot, and suspense, Gossip Girl has obviously captivated several students’ attention. Watch it on Monday nights at 10:00 on the CW. Well, until next time, XOXO, Gossip Girl.
