TK Burgers Helps Haiti

Posted on 01 February 2010 by Lauren Fox

After the disastrous earthquake that hit Haiti only a few weeks ago, ASB has organized many events to help this country. One of the events organized was the arrival of TK Burgers for students to purchase a meal during lunch on Monday.

TK Burgers rode their colorful truck onto the CdM campus during lunch to serve their delicious hamburgers to students. They set up their Hawaiian style truck near the senior parking lot, behind the girls’ locker room.

The original date for TK Burgers to come to the campus was last Friday. Lack of interest in this event caused TK Burgers to come Monday. This gave students extra time to purchase a wristband. Wristbands were available for purchase all last week. The price to purchase a meal was lowered as the week progressed. Starting at $9, wristbands were available for $5 at the end of the week. There was no need for seniors to buy a wristband. Since the senior class won the Change for a Cure contest earlier in the year, they were treated to a free TK Burgers meal.

Each meal came with a hamburger, a bag of chips, and a soda. All this for just $5 was a great deal. The burger joint set up their black tents, which contained condiments where students could choose their burger toppings.

“Great service and really good hamburgers. ASB did a good job!” said freshman Kyle Mulvaney.

All of the proceeds from this event went to the Red Cross to be given to Haiti.

“TK Burgers was a great idea to help raise money for Haiti. It’s nice to see that CDM is taking part in helping Haiti after the earthquake,” said freshman Kendall Schreiberg.

Overall, CdM ASB has done a great job organizing events like TK Burgers in order to help Haiti. Everything counts when it comes to helping a country that has lost so much.
