Corona del Mar High School has a tradition of publishing an annual magazine titled “The Voice”. The magazine is a collection of student works in poetry, photography, artwork, and short stories. This year, The Voice staff is bringing a few new ideas to the table.

Last year the magazine was distributed on the last day of school, so many people didn’t have the chance to see it. The staff this year doesn’t want to see that happen again, so they have set a deadline of distribution for the first week of June.

The staff has just begun working on the magazine this year, and they are anxious to speak with students who are interested in having their work published in The Voice. The content of the magazine will still consist of poetry, photography, artwork, and short stories; however, this year, the staff has decided to add a muscial component to the magazine. This would include song lyrics, and small biographies on muscians and bands that attend CdM.

Usually after each student piece there is simply the name of the artist at the bottom. “This year we want to incorporate a little more background on the students’ works, like titles and inspirations,” said senior Corey Cano.

The production cost of the magazine is about $2,000. In past years, money has been available, but this year, due to budget cuts, the money isn’t there anymore. The Voice staff plans to have advertisers, and to hold fundraisers, so that the magazine will make it to print.
