As the second semester quickly approaches around the corner and the rain clouds are making room for the return of the California sunshine, it becomes harder to review for those pesky finals. Even though enjoying the relaxing playlist at Starbucks is a lot more tempting than reviewing those tedious physics flash cards, Trident asked a few study tips that students here at CDM have come up with on their own.
Senior Korinne Sullivan suggests that “studying in short periods and rewarding yourself with a snack or a quick break” is the way to go because that way “you have something to look forward to and you want to get as much done as possible.”
Junior Abi McBean says that “getting someone to help you study really helps a lot because that way you can encourage each other.” However, it is important to pick a partner who will push you to study and not just socialize.
Sophomore Mason Case prefers to study alone and in the quiet because “that way you’ll be forced to study and not have any distractions.”
The popular physics teacher Mr. Selby gave an idea to his classes by getting a Starbucks gift card for the week and heading there for thirty minutes a day with a study guide and a cup of hot coco.
Senior Fendi Wang choses to put together a schedule “with everything I need need to get done each day and everything that needs to be prepared.
Senior Austin Allen says that “flash cards make studying easier, you can make them for almost any subject and just writing them helps you retain the information.”
Junior Paige DeMoet says that eating a good breakfast “makes a big difference because that way you won’t be focusing on being hungry and be focusing on the exam, and good food gives you energy.”
Getting rid of unnecessary worries or social problems that can be postponed is an excellent idea that can be crucial to making more time to study for finals. Focusing on school work can also work simultaneously and help you take your mind off of the other stresses going on in your life!
