The Sea Queen’s were not on their game as they lost to Laguna Hills for the second time. As they lost 1 to 0 in the rainy weather here at CdM, they are now 0 to 2 with Laguna Hills.
“I am so bummed that we lost again! We are always so close to winning, it’s insane,” said freshman Alexa Mamatas.
The first half of the game was a challenge, but remained a tie with a score of 0 to 0. Sophomore Sydney Raguse almost scored a goal off a free kick right outside of the box. As the she kicked the ball over all of the opposing teams defenders, the ball hit the post of the soccer goal and landed right in the goalies hands.
“I was so mad that the ball didn’t make it in the goal! I was so bummed,” said sophomore Sydney Raguse.
To end the first half, senior Paige Sigband shot the ball from mid-field, and almost scored a goal, but just skimmed the crossbar. The crowd was going crazy at this point, but was very disappointed.
“I was so mad that that ball didn’t go in the goal! That was a great shot by Paige though,” said junior Riley Senske.
Throughout the second half, freshman Karsten Sigband and senior Hayley Raguse had many assists, but they weren’t quite good enough to get any goals in. Laguna Hills scored a goal off a breakaway in the middle of the second half, making the score 1 to 0. At the end of the half, freshman Annie Alvarado dribbled the ball up the right side of the field, and crossed the ball across the field while sliding in the slippery, wet mud. The ball then hit freshman Emily Kreb’s foot and missed the goal by a few feet.
“The play with Annie and Emily was so intense and I am so mad that they didn’t score,” said senior Paige Sigband.
“The game was really fun to watch, I am just so mad they lost,” said sophomore Ashley Kelegian.
