Congratulations to Annie Alvarado, Karsten Sigband, and Maddie O’Connor. These girls were the only freshman to make the varsity soccer team.
These freshman are all really excited to be on varsity.
“I am so thrilled to be on varsity! I really love the team and am so excited for the season,” said O’Connor.
Sigband shares similar views to her teammate O’Connor.
“Varsity has been so much fun so far! Everyone on the team is so nice and welcoming and this season is going to be a blast,” said Sigband.
Alvarado is excited to be on the team as well.
“It feels really good to be one of the three freshman on varsity. I have had such a good time so far, and I really don’t want the season to end,” said Alvarado.
Not only did they make varsity, but the girls are making a huge impact on the team. Sigband and Alvarado start every game for the Sea Queens, and O’Connor gets a lot of playing time on the field.
“Karsten, Maddie, and Annie are all naturals at playing soccer. They are all so good, and I’m really proud to say that Karsten is my sister,” said senior Paige Sigband who also plays on the varsity soccer team.
Since they were young, Alvarado, Sigband, and O’Connor have been playing soccer. From AYSO to club soccer, the girls have made their way all the way up to varsity. They have always stood out on every team they’ve been on, according to freshman Katie Steinberg.
“Maddie, Annie, and Karsten are all amazing! They are probably the best soccer players I have ever seen, and I really enjoy watching them play,” said Steinberg.
With Sigband at center-midfield, Alvarado at left-midfield, and O’Connor at outside midfield, the girls make a powerful team.
“All the new freshman are so good, and make such a good team out their when they play, and really work together to help win the game,” said sophomore Alyssa Williams.
Support the girls varsity soccer team for their upcoming season, and root on the three fantastic freshman!
