Cat Cafes

Posted on 30 October 2009 by Hannah Hagemann

Live in an apartment that doesn’t allow friendly felines? Spouse is allergic to cats? Simply don’t have the time to take care of a cat or the money to afford the expenses that comes with being a pet owner? These problems can all be solved by heading to your local cat cafe. Where is this you may ask? That would be a trip to Tokyo,Japan.

Cat Cafes have become a feline phenom and a growing market in Tokyo, where one pays a fee to spend time in a room with around 10 cats. These establishments offer tea and other drink commodities. A magazine is displayed with a catalogue of all the breeds and names of cats so clients can choose their potential feline friend ahead of time. The cafes recommend making reservations ahead of time, attendance is strictly controlled, and do lay down some rules before entering the cat area. Flash photography and children under 10 are not permitted and cats may not be awoken from sleeping. So, the next time you’re craving some feline quality time, the nearest cat cafe is only a hop and a skip away, or more like a plane ticket to Tokyo,Japan.
